Long walk – Sant Grau megalithic walk

Distance of around 12km with an elevation difference (lowest-to-highest point) of about 400m although with the ups and downs the total ascent will be more than this. The forestry roads are sandy and sometimes eroded and can be a little slippy on the steeper slopes).

Meet at 9.30am at the parking of the Ermita of Sant Grau d’Ardenya to depart on the walk at 10am.

There are some information boards outside the ermita about the area and the flora/fauna. The church will unfortunately not be open for viewing. No open cafes or bars in Sant Grau during the week and no water sources along the route so to bring one’s own refreshments and packed lunch.

Directions to meeting place
From the southbound C-35 take the exit 98 to Llagostera (or take the next exit to Llagostera/Sant Llorenc, past the Repsol garage, left at the roundabout). Turn left, then right and continue along the service road. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto the GIP-6821 towards Sant Grau. At the next intersection, keep left following the sign to Sant Grau. Continue up the road to Sant Grau and the church and bar parking, on the right at the intersection just after the 10km signpost.
Route Description
Starting from Sant Grau ermita, a walk in the hills/mountains of the Ardenya massif between Llagostera and Tossa de Mar. Using mostly forestry/farm roads the walk will include some religious ruins and small stone age sites (dolmens, menhirs) with views down to the sea and across the forested slopes. 12km mostly on sandy forestry roads but some steeper uphill/downhill sections at times.
