SUMMARY:Walking Football Weekly Game
DESCRIPTION:The Weekly Walking Football session is – Tuesday 4.00 pm until 5.00pm . You can arrive from 3.50 pm for a 10 minute warm up before Kick Off and there will be a 5 minute cool down followed by a non compulsory rehydration drink at The Bistro. Please bring your own water bottle for the drinks break. \nVenue – Camp de Futbol next to the Municipal D’Esports Sant Antoni de Calonge\, Carrer de la Sardana\, s/n 17252 Sant Antoni de Calonge \, there is a large open air free car park next to the outdoor astro turf pitch.  In case of inclement weather we have the option to play inside the Sports Hall. \nhttp://esports.calonge.cat/instalacions/ \nWalking Football is open to all ages\, abilities and genders and is a non-contact sport . The venue @ Sant Antoni de Calonge is an outdoor latest generation astro turf pitch & generally we have enough people for at least 5 side ( although much smaller sided games are possible) .  The pitch size is adjusted to suit the amount of players . Players need a suitable training shoe with grip or aa astroturf boot but shin pads are not necessary and please bring a water bottle.  Any training shoe can be used but Football boots ( if you still have some !) with molded studs can be used on an astro turf surf but strictly no boots with blades are allowed . We play one game with a halftime drinks break between and a 10 minute warm up to start and 5 minutes to cool down. \n Guests are more than welcome even if you have never kicked a football before it’s a very easy and highly enjoyable introduction to Football. \nSee you Tuesday \nGail and Julian

DESCRIPTION:Escola Hosteleria Cap Roig \nTaster Menu -talk about the aims of the college and kitchen tour\nWednesday 29th April – 13.00.   20 places. \nCookery Group members have priority.  In line with U3A rules priority is given to group members.  Guests may now be invited. \nThis college in Palafrugell trains young people to work in hospitality. As well as learning to prepare and cook food\, they develop people skills – from serving customers to mixing cocktails. They are encouraged to use any languages they know. So our U3A represents their future international customers. \nAs well as cooking and serving breakfasts to staff of the college and local people in the morning\, they cook main dishes for sale to the public. Three days a week they offer different lunch menus. This event is for the Wednesday Taster Menu. \nStarting with a cocktail mixed by the students\, there are 6 dishes – 2 starters\, 2 mains and 2 desserts. Red and white wine is offered with the mains. Cava and petit fours are served at the end of the meal. The student chefs responsible for each dish will ask for your opinion\, answer questions and describe the contents of the dishes. You will be able to tour the kitchen with the head of the school after the meal if you wish. \nThe menu is fixed. The staff will prepare an alternative for any customers with food allergies or special diets. So as to include this in the training they would\nneed to be notified a week before the event. If you are allergic to any foods please inform the organiser. \nAfter the academic year ends in the summer the students generally find work in kitchens. In joining this Cookery Group event you are giving them real life experience and practise their skills. The head chefs are planning a menu that will appeal to our particular group. \nAfter the meal you may buy freshly cooked ready meals and cakes to take away.\nCost – €30. Including cocktail\, paired wines\, bread and water. DESCRIPTION:A morning class to explore the handling of clay.\nCeramics are in our lives daily and the Costa Brava is famous for some exceptional pottery work.  This is approximately a 4 hour class with no particular expectations other than experiencing how clay feels while manufacturing  a vase/cup and a bowl.   The main focus is relaxed fun\, exploring this tactile medium. \nA craft experience is now considered a powerful way for reducing anxiety and stress\, “providing a calming mental escape\, improving mood\, boosting dopamine and offering a tangible sense of accomplishment”. \nPlaces are limited.  If there is enough interest we can repeat the class.  The price is €30.  This includes all equipment\, room cost and a qualified ceramics tutor.  Coffee is available before and during the break.  Lunch is available for those that would like to stay for lunch.

SUMMARY:Long walk – Sant Grau megalithic walk
DESCRIPTION:Distance of around 12km with an elevation difference (lowest-to-highest point) of about 400m although with the ups and downs the total ascent will be more than this. The forestry roads are sandy and sometimes eroded and can be a little slippy on the steeper slopes). \nMeet at 9.30am at the parking of the Ermita of Sant Grau d’Ardenya to depart on the walk at 10am. \nThere are some information boards outside the ermita about the area and the flora/fauna. The church will unfortunately not be open for viewing. No open cafes or bars in Sant Grau during the week and no water sources along the route so to bring one’s own refreshments and packed lunch.

SUMMARY:Walking Football Weekly Game
DESCRIPTION:The Weekly Walking Football session is – Tuesday 4.00 pm until 5.00pm . You can arrive from 3.50 pm for a 10 minute warm up before Kick Off and there will be a 5 minute cool down followed by a non compulsory rehydration drink at The Bistro. Please bring your own water bottle for the drinks break. \nVenue – Camp de Futbol next to the Municipal D’Esports Sant Antoni de Calonge\, Carrer de la Sardana\, s/n 17252 Sant Antoni de Calonge \, there is a large open air free car park next to the outdoor astro turf pitch.  In case of inclement weather we have the option to play inside the Sports Hall. \nhttp://esports.calonge.cat/instalacions/ \nWalking Football is open to all ages\, abilities and genders and is a non-contact sport . The venue @ Sant Antoni de Calonge is an outdoor latest generation astro turf pitch & generally we have enough people for at least 5 side ( although much smaller sided games are possible) .  The pitch size is adjusted to suit the amount of players . Players need a suitable training shoe with grip or aa astroturf boot but shin pads are not necessary and please bring a water bottle.  Any training shoe can be used but Football boots ( if you still have some !) with molded studs can be used on an astro turf surf but strictly no boots with blades are allowed . We play one game with a halftime drinks break between and a 10 minute warm up to start and 5 minutes to cool down. \n Guests are more than welcome even if you have never kicked a football before it’s a very easy and highly enjoyable introduction to Football. \nSee you Tuesday \nGail and Julian

SUMMARY:Bravas Walk – Karin and Jürgen’s Rupià Ramble
DESCRIPTION:This month’s walk is a circular route planned by Karin and Jürgen starting and finishing at Rupià. This charming small village (population 300!) is known for its mediaeval architecture with an old quarter that features Gothic and Renaissance style houses. The walk starts by exploring the most significant points of interest in the village which date back to the 14th and 15th centuries and include the castle (latterly an episcopal palace) and the remains of the ancient city walls. The two main gates in the wall still remain and we strike out through one of them\, the Portal Avall\, into beautiful countryside which is at its very best at this time of year. We pass alongside a small stream and then through a combination of attractive woodland and open fields alternating between wide rural tracks and narrower wooded pathways. The terrain is undulating with gentle climbs and descents. Points of interest include good views from Sanglar’s Point\, the Puig Rodó watering hole and an ancient well. Towards the end of the walk\, we come across Mas Llorà\, an 18th century manor house near which is the historical “Great Olive Tree”. Unfortunately\, what was once a notable landmark is not looking so ‘great’ these days! \nThe total length of the walk is approaching nine kilometres. Whilst it is deemed an easy walk \, stout walking shoes are recommended along with sun protection and water especially as there is no formal coffee stop.
