Directions to meeting place
From Girona, take the road to Olot (C66/A26/N260). Exit 75 towards Montagut i Oix/Sant Jaume/Castelfollit. At 2nd roundabout take 2nd exit to Montagut (GIV 5233), go through Montagut then left turn to Sadernes (GIV 5231). Continue to Sadernes. Park in the field beyond the church/village down an unmade road to the right. From l'Escala/Figueres, travel through Besalu and take exit 75 off the A-26, as above. Allow about 45 minutes from Girona.
Route Description
Route length : 14 km. Time : about 4.5 to 5 hours. Level 4 but with no ascents of more than 50 m. Mostly decent paths with some rocky stretches. River to be forded 3 times (stepping stones); plenty of shade, but if temperatures climb over 32, the walk is likely to be cancelled.
Additional Information
Bring swimming things if you feel like a dip in the rock pools. Remember hat and sunscreen. If the event has to be cancelled due to bad weather/high temperatures, there will be a notice on the U3A website by 10 pm the evening before.
Meet time
10.30 am in car park at Sadernes. No coffee/facilities at meeting place, so allow time to stop in Montagut if necessary.

Circular walk starting in Sadernes in the Garrotxa along the banks of the Llierca to the Ermita de Sant Aniol where there is now a refuge with a basic restaurant offering sandwiches and craft beer. Return on the opposite bank. Beautiful clear green pools may tempt you to have a dip, so bring swimmers and towel.
