Art Group

We are a group of Art enthusiasts who meet up every 2nd and 4 th Thursday in the morning at Gualta Pitch & Putt Par 3 course.
We are all happy to share ideas and welcome new ones. In the past we have worked with many different topics including Haiku illustrations, Japanese themed landscapes as well as still life and many others.

Canasta Group

Fancy learning to play Canasta or already a player ?

We are a friendly group who are always willing to teach new members.

We meet fortnightly on a Monday morning in a local bar.

Come along and have a go.

Crafts & Hobbies

The Crafts & Hobbies Group has been running for more than 10 years. It meets once a month on the third Thursday in L’Escala. The meeting is held at Latinole Basilic Hondureno. .
Over the years we have made jewellery from dry clay, fridge magnets, embroidered tablecloths, painted fans, sun-catcher fish, and pictures from sea glass. They have also painted stones, woven baskets, made cards and felt animals – the list is endless!
Come and join these craft enthusiasts and enjoy sharing skills.

Full Day Walk

For the more serious walkers, this group will walk anything between 15 and 23 km depending on terrain.
They are able to explore the local areas on foot and usually picnic along the way.
Walks can take place all over the Costa Brava region and are on the 3rd Monday of the month.

Garden Interest

This group meets 3 or 4 times a year. We visit each other’s gardens and come up with helpful suggestions, or we share challenges which we have had whilst gardening in this Mediterranean climate. Recently we went to a members newly built house and over drinks and cakes, wandered around the plot of land suggesting creative ideas. We always take plants and do a ‘Plant Swap’ at the end of the visit.

Golf - Par 3

Any standard of Golfer who knows the basic rules, is welcome to join us.
We play at various Par 3 clubs in the Costa Brava.
We play on the 3rd Wednesday of the month in the morning usually folled by a menu del dia. Each month different members organise fun competions. The event is usually followed by a menu del dia.

Cycling - Las Ruedas

Routes of 30km+ , fast meaningful rides, which include hills & are over different types of terrain.

Local Interest

The group meets to explore places of interest in the Local area including towns, museums, castles….. found in the Costa Brava.

An optional menu del dia is organised after a visit. Members take it in turns to arrange the days out.

Wine Appreciation

A very social group who are keen to learn more about wine production on the Costa Brava. We visit various wineries, sample & learn about different varieties.

Septos Lunch

A sociable group for over 70’s who eat a menu del dia at different restaurants each month.
Come & join u. Share knowledge of good restaurants you have experienced.

Spanish Conversation

Led by an experienced teacher. Some prior knowledge required.
Every Wednesday from 10:30 to 11:30 am. Venue changeable and TBA each week depending on numbers.

Long Walk

More meaningful walk on varied terraine at reasonable pace, exploring the Costa Brava 10+ Km

Walking - Bravas

More meaningful walk at reasonable pace. Different members lead walks from 6 -10km exploring various areas of the Costa Brava. the walks often pass though places of interest. an optional meal is usually arranged for those who wish to stay on.

Cookery

This is a small group of people who meet up once a month, usually on the 3rd Thursday of the month.
Recently they have met at a member’s house and learnt how to make ‘Jiaozi’ Chinese dumplings and soon they are visiting the Escola Hosteleria Cap Roig to experience a Taster menu created by the students there.
Everyone is happy to share their culinary skills.

Petanca in Palafrugell

Are you interested in playing Petanca? Whether you are completely new to the game or have some experience, everyone is welcome in this friendly group. No matter your skill level, you’ll find a warm and encouraging atmosphere.

Saturday Scrabble

A small group of enthusiasts who meet weekly in Estartit. All welcome.

Padel Tennis

There are many local U3A padel groups springing up as it is growing in popularity. You can be sure to find one in your area, and if not, then start one up!
The groups run using WhatsApp to get a game together. Beginners are welcome

Walking Football

Enthusiasts, ladies and gentlemen, of all standards and ages. Tues Weekly 3.45 til 5.00 pm. Venue : Outdoor Astro Turf Football pitch at the Camp Municipal DÉsports , Sant Antoni de Calonge. Carrer de la Sardana post code 17252. There is a large open air free car park next to the pitch. Bring a drink of water to hydrate.

Snorkelling - Diving

Do you enjoy Snorkelling or Diving? Never tried it, but would like to ?

The U3A hire the L’Estartit Dive boat and organises equipment and an instructor.

It is a seasonal and occasional group once the weather warms up.

Pleasurable Cycling

This group welcomes all cyclists who like riding at a steady, enjoyable pace over a variety of good terrain. Our aim is to provide a range of rides suitable for a variety of bike types and cycling abilities. We meet on the 1st and 3rd Friday of each month, except August. Our rides are between 25 and 40 kms in length and between level 1 and 5 on the u3a Cycle guidelines

Cycling - Los Locos

This group wishes to encourage members who feel the need to push themselves to accomplish rides that are at least 35 kilometres. That include climbs that are challenging and travel on tracks that require a level of bike handling skills

Bridge Group

This group his is a group of people playing relaxed Bridge. They meet in the coordinators home in Tamariu on an ‘Adhoc’ basis when there are enough players around. Through WhatsApp, they arrange times and dates. You can come along and be taught how to play the basics of the 5 card major / strong no trump system. All equipment is provided.

Book Club

An easy going group – spreading the love of a good book.
Reading or listening to a good story is magical. A book will be recommended every 5/6 weeks and a social occasion planned to talk discuss and share the ideas gained from reading a text you might not otherwise have come across. Running on an ‘Adhoc’ basis at the moment and meets in members’ homes
