Cycling: Los Locos / P2P Group 50+km

Welcome To The New Combined P2P/Los Locos Cycling Group

This new combined P2P/Los Locos group wishes to encourage members who feel the need to push themselves to accomplish rides that are at least 35 kilometres and sometimes even over 50 kilometres. That include climbs that are challenging and travel on tracks that require a level of bike handling skills not required by other cycling groups.

The level of rides will be up to the highest level as set out in the cycling guidelines. We will vary the difficulty and length of the rides to ensure that both Los Locos and P2P riders are catered for during the year.

Primarily this group is a mountain biking group-rather than a road riding group-for riders on non-assisted bikes. Riders with battery driven bikes continue to be totally welcome, but the primary purpose of the group is to provide challenging rides for non-assisted riders and this will continue to be the benchmark for all proposed rides. Riders who have hybrid bikes or bikes with thin tyres may find some of our rides too challenging, so it is essential to read the event descriptions to ensure you and your bike are suitable for the ride and the terrain.

As with any group all efforts will be made not to endanger the well-being of members but the rides will require some hard effort and not be a walk in the park!. However, hopefully they will still be fun!

Please note that participation in all U3A events is at the participant's own risk, as we do not provide insurance for event participants. We do have third party insurance cover in place which covers any claims made against us by others. Please ensure you bring with you either your Catsalut card, EHIC card or details of any private health insurance policy you may hold.
