Walking Netball Group
Walking sports are very popular in the UK. Football, Tennis, Basketball also have walking versions of the game, with some simple rule changes to help the slower game still work. They were developed to allow regular players to return from injury within the sport, or who had to retire from the full game, to continue to enjoy playing at some level.
Most importantly, they allow anyone of any age to participate in a low impact activity, and can be adapted to any level. Therefore, those who cannot run and jump as they used to, can easily participate, and benefit from the mental, social and obvious overall health benefits of a fun, group session of easy to moderate exercise.
Sue Webster and Mary Taylor, have found the Sant Antoni de Calonge Sports Centre has equipment, and lines laid out for Netball, so we have a safe, indoor facility to use. Both Sue and Mary were PE Teachers and have a wealth of coaching experience in Netball, and Sue also ran a Walking Netball group in the UK, before leaving.
The emphasis will be on fun and activity to suit all participants. No experience is necessary. Netball is not exclusively a female sport any more by the way, so all are welcome. You should wear comfortable clothes and trainers, ( a smile ) and bring water. There are changing facilities. The Group would like to also create a social element and have a quick drink locally together afterwards, and share some conversation and laughter.
They would like to now invite anyone interested to contact them as soon as possible. The sessions will be same time each week;
Mondays 5pm until 6pm . You can arrive from 4.50pm.
Sala Polivalent de Sant Antoni de Calonge,
