Full Day Walk from L’Escala

Circular walk of about 15 km starting from the port of l’Escala and heading south along the coast, passing Torre Montgo, Cala Montgo, Punta Ventosa and Cala de Baix de Cols before heading inland to return through a section of the Montgri National Park.

Route Description
After a drink at Llar dels Pescadors in the port of l'Escala, we'll set off along the winding coastal path which offers superb views of the coast, the town, the entire Bay of Roses, and the Pyrenees with the snow-capped Canigou in the background. We'll skirt Montgo Hill and its beautiful beach, then continue upwards towards Punta Mila and Punta Ventosa via a steep path where jagged cliffs plunge into crystal-clear waters. At Punta Ventosa we'll discover the military remains of the Gutierrez defense line. We return to the port via inland paths through the Montgri National Park. Distance : approximately 15 kms. Height gain : 332 m. Time : around 5 hours

Walking poles recommended for this hike. Please bring a picnic and plenty of water.
