U3A Costa Brava.
U3A Costa Brava was founded in October 2001 and currently has 320 members based on the Costa Brava, the majority living between L'Escala in the North and Sant Feliu in the South. The organisation is English speaking but currently twenty percent of the members are non-British passport holders. At the moment we have over forty groups covering a wide range of activities and interests.
One of the most important benefits to come from membership of the U3A is the opportunity to develop new interests and skills in an informal atmosphere among like-minded people. Although our members range in age from around fifty to nearly ninety, we exist to learn from each other. It is important to not only take part but contribute. Each group is self funding and may make small charges to cover special needs. There are no other costs except the annual membership subscription of fourteen euros.
The size of group varies, but it is important to understand that the smaller groups, of less than ten people, are just as important as the larger groups. We are always keen to expand our range of activities and welcome any suggestions. If you would like to lead a new group please talk to the Group Liaison Officer or a member of the committee.
Every year we hold five General Meetings in El Recer in Torroella de Montgri. The meetings start at 10.30am with an opportunity for a coffee and chat before the formal meeting which starts between 11.15am and 11.30am in the Cine Petit immediately next door. Each meeting begins with a short business meeting and a review of current group activities. Finally there is a talk on a topic of general interest.
