Groups

NEW MEMBERS.

You are now members of the Costa Brava U3A. It is time for you to decide which of the following groups interest you and you would like to join. The group coordinator describes the activities and other important information on their group page so have a look. Once you decide which groups you would like to join please email the coordinators. This is very easy to do as on each group page, just under the coordinator contact details there is an envelope,  click on it and an email will open for you to complete to request group membership. You will need to do this for each group you would like to join. This email goes directly to the coordinator and contains all your contact details.

CANASTA is a matching card game in which the object is to create melds of cards of the same rank and then go out by playing or discarding all the cards in your hand, the distinctive feature of CANASTA, as opposed to other Rummy games, is that making a seven card meld, called a CANASTA, gives the player a huge bonus, and the number of CANASTAS made usually decides the game. Another distinctive feature is that in CANASTA when a player picks up cards from the discard pile, the player picks up the entire pile, as opposed to only the top card in most other Rummy games.

Come and join us to play this fascinating game in a relaxed, friendly but competitive atmosphere.

If you have never played before, we will teach you.
